Back to lectures page
The Precious Mirror Samādhi, the Most Exalted Mirror was written in the ninth century by a key figure in the development of our tradition, Tung Shan Liang Chieh, better known to us by his Japanese name Tōzan Ryōkai. The Precious Mirror Samādhi is a poem that has become so much a part of our tradition that it is considered a sutra. A central element of the poem is a teaching by Tōzan known as the Five Stations or the Five Ranks.
