Rev. Master Hakuun is a female Buddhist monastic of the Order of Buddhist Contemplatives. Before ordination she studied Sinology at the University of Leiden and spent a total of four years in East Asia. She was ordained by Rev. Master Jiyu-Kennett at Shasta Abbey in the U.S. in 1981. In 1993 she received Dharma-transmission from Rev. Master Daishin Morgan, one of Rev. Master Jiyu's Dharma-heirs and abbot of Throssel Hole Buddhist Abbey in the U.K. In 2002 he named her a Master. She is licensed to teach by the Order of Buddhist Contemplatives.
